Biography
Charles was called to the Bar in England & Wales in 1996 and subsequently admitted as a barrister in Gibraltar in 1997. He is a partner in the dispute resolution team at Triay Lawyers, a leading Gibraltar law firm. Gibraltar operates a fused profession and Charles qualified as an English solicitor in 2003.
Charles’ main practice areas are commercial litigation including commercial fraud/asset recovery, insolvency and private client disputes. Charles appeared as junior counsel in the reported Privy Council case of Credit Agricole Corporation and Investment Bank v Papadimitriou [2015] UKPC 13, a leading authority in relation to proprietary claims. Charles also acts for a major victim of the Marrache fraud as well as currently acting for the Liquidator of Enterprise Insurance Company Plc, the latter being Gibraltar’s largest insurance insolvency. Charles regularly appears and acts in a wide variety of litigation matters before the Gibraltar Courts and is recognized as a leading individual in dispute resolution in Gibraltar by Legal 500.
He is a member of Middle Temple; ACTAPS and Resolution. He has contributed the Gibraltar chapters to a number of publications including the Asset Tracing and Recovery Review as published by Law Business Research and International Trust Disputes as published by Oxford University Press.
